Fundraising for the Local Community

Three years ago we decided as a team to make a combined effort towards fundraising for a great cause each year.  We started this in 2015 by supporting the deserving local charity Leatherhead Start and then in 2016 we got behind one of our Technical Consulting team who was supporting the British Heart Foundation for personal reasons.

This year our charitable endeavours are growing and we are supporting three team members on their charity fundraising efforts, one of whom is supporting the local Princess Alice Hospice.

The Princess Alice Hospice has been providing free, holistic palliative care for people with advanced illness and those approaching the end of their life for over 30 years.  They offer services to more than 1 million people in their area, providing:

•             Day services for people who are still able to join in with group activities

•             Home end of life care for those who do not wish to be in a hospice

•             Support for those caring for loved ones

•             Bereavement support following the loss of a loved one

The Hospice has personally touched enablesIT staff, in particular Emilie, our Accounts Assistant when the hospice provided day services to her grandad enabling him to make great friendships before he became too ill to attend the day centre.  The hospice then provided home care free of charge to support her family in caring for him and made a positive difference to the family during a difficult time.   Emilie is undertaking the Brighton Colour Run in September to raise funds for the hospice.

At Princess Alice, day patient care costs £0.6m per day for all the patients and they rely on fundraising, retail, donations and legacies for 77% of all their funding.  For every £1 donated…. 84p is spent on delivering care, 11p is spent on fundraising & 5p on management and admin.

Fundraising makes a real difference to allow the hospice to continue this vital care for people in need of specialist care and support and we are pleased to support such a deserving cause.
